After struggling to a losing record in their first 20 games, the Boston Bruins dismissed coach Jim Montgomery on Tuesday.
Reasons For Jim Montgomery ‘S Dismissal
Fans have lost patience as well because the squad is currently 8-9-3 (.475 points percentage) and outside of a postseason seed in the Eastern Conference.
Ty Anderson claims that Monday’s game against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets ended the Bruins’ sellout run when the team was unable to sell 300 tickets.
As a result of Boston’s subsequent 5-1 loss, Jim Montgomery was fired. The sellout streak began in December 2009.
The Bruins were jeered off the ice at home following their 3-0 deficit in the first period of their Monday night loss to Columbus.
Fans made sure to voice their annoyance, even though it may not have been from a sellout audience.
Is Jeremy Jacobs new coach?
Given the decline in attendance, it is widely assumed that owner Jeremy Jacobs will be considering the real situation in Boston and may ultimately choose to fire general manager Don Sweeney. Fans feel that the new coach will take over the responsibility from Jim Montgomery properly.
Many supporters think Sweeney should take some of the blame for the Bruins’ dismal 2024–25 start. His club has shortcomings, such as subpar special teams, awful third quarters, and penalties, and it doesn’t seem like the general manager has been trying to address them.
Sweeney gave big contracts to centre Elias Lindholm (seven-year, $54.25 million) and defenseman Nikita Zadorov (six-year, $30 million deal), even though everyone thought he would sign a top-six goal scorer in free agency this summer. We have to admit that both contracts currently appear to be overpays.
