Information on Marlene Warren
In 1990, Joe Ahrens was excited to spend the Memorial Day weekend with his pals. In Wellington, Florida, in Palm Beach County, Ahrens, 21, was having breakfast and watching TV with a few of his friends who had spent the night at his house when there was a tap on the door.

40-year-old Marlene Warren, his mother, went to find out who it was. As she answered the door, she noticed what looked to be a delivery guy carrying balloons and a basket of flowers while sporting a clown outfit, wig, and makeup.
As the clown turned to go, Ahrens hurried to his mother’s side in a panic.
He remembers that in this exclusive clip (below) from the upcoming People Magazine Investigates episode on Investigation Discovery/ID and streaming on Max, “the clown looked me right in the eyes and I got to glimpse those eyes.” “They were brown and large.”
The episode “Sex. Clowns. Murder,” which airs on Monday, Nov. 4 at 9/8 c, delves deeply into the strange murder that remained unsolved for 27 years.
The episode describes how persistent Palm Beach County detectives hunted for Warren’s killer before apprehending a suspect in 2017 who had an unexpected relationship to the victim.
Warren’s second husband, Michael, whom she married in 1972, was questioned by investigators. They focused on the problematic connection between the couple.
A week prior to her passing, Warren had informed Ahrens that her stepfather, Michael Warren, had stopped “caring anymore” following the untimely death of her son John, then 22 years old, in 1988. According to Ahrens, she was unhappy in the marriage and wanted to leave.
However, Michael Warren had an alibi: his wife was shot when he was traveling to Miami. He was never taken into custody or prosecuted with his wife’s murder.
