Prince Harry’s surprising participation in Remembrance Day was made public despite his absence from the family reunion.

Prince Harry did his part to make Sunday a memorable day, even if he was not present at the Remembrance Day Parade with the rest of the royal family.

Details on Prince Harry

Before their big moment, the Duke made sure a group of kids who were part of the Royal British Legion’s march past the Cenotaph had a delightful surprise.

The kind monarch donated candies to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a children’s charity that helps hundreds of young adults and children who have lost loved ones in the military.

Being an ambassador for Scotty’s, Harry was more than delighted to participate. After the death of her spouse, Corporal Lee Scott, army widow Nikki Scott founded Scotty’s in 2010.

From group activities to scholarships to support their education and development, Scotty’s assists kids and their families. 53 children and young people, many of whom were sporting their parents’ medals, were among the around 100 charity representatives who attended the march on Sunday.

A new picture of the prince wearing a black suit with a red poppy pinned to it and a black and yellow ‘Scotty’s scarf’ was included with Harry’s letter to the charity ahead of Remembrance Day. The charity’s namesake, Corporal Lee ‘Scotty’ Scott, served with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment before being killed in Afghanistan, and the colors were chosen to reflect those of the unit.

Prince Harry Personal Life

“Each of you carries a unique story shaped by the bravery of a parent who served our country,” the father of two went on. I think I understand the burden of losing a parent at a young age more than most others. It can be solitary and overwhelming. I have witnessed how groups like yours can provide profound solace and healing, and we find strength in the love and memories left behind despite that grief.

Regarding Prince Harry‘s involvement, founder Nikki previously stated: “Prince Harry is totally committed to Scotty’s and takes his role as Global Ambassador very seriously.” He is aware of the sacrifices made by service members and knows what it’s like for our members to grow up without their parents.
